Rachel Aragaki holding a french horn

Rachel wears many hats: teacher, performer, recording artist, writer, and coffee enthusiast. As a horn teacher and coach, she focuses on integrating musicianship, technical skill, music history, mental training, and body mapping into a holistic approach to playing the horn. Both virtual and in-person lessons combine these elements to meet students’ musical goals.

Recently, Rachel has performed with the Portland Concert Opera, the St. Luke’s Chamber Orchestra, and the Northwest Horn Orchestra. She also provides administrative duties and performs with the Philanthropic Philharmonic, a virtual orchestra that draws attention to social causes with its popular music covers.

Outside of playing and writing about the horn, Rachel treasures her time hiking, cooking, bouldering, and playing ultimate frisbee. She also loves learning about performance psychology, positive psychology, and injury prevention; many of these subjects inform her teaching approach to maximize student growth and confidence.

Rachel is now offering online lessons. Please contact her to set up lessons.
